Dizzy Dee aka Desire Sibanda originally from Zimbabwe started music more than half a decade
ago working with his local Triangle based Roots/Reggae
sound system then called "Shutter Crew" as an MC in Zimbabwe Shutter dissolved in late 2002
forming two groups, Shutter Crew & Shutter Family,
the Family became stronger than the Crew. The Family took Dizzy in as their official MC
which brought conflict because during that period another sound
system called Saxon Sound International led by Letcha T, worked with Dizzy as DJ and MC
making it hard to take sides during clashes. 2003 saw the formation
of the hardcore Dancehall/Soca/Reggaeton outfit and sound Platinum Vibes with Little Hero
on the forefront and Soprano who was part of Saxon Sound.
As an MC Dizzy Dee voiced on popular riddims during sound clashes and gigs which made him
popular in the whole of South Eastern Zimbabwe.
Later composing his own songs to feature on three albums under producer/engineer Rebel Child
on the Maodzanyemba Records label in Chiredzi,
making Dizzy Dee the first successful artist from Triangle, his town of birth. Moving on in
2004, Dizzy Dee met his challenge since more MC's and DJ's where
chanting down on the mic, faster than wildfire. Dizzy Dee wrote and worked with Sheppy Lee,
helping him to release his first album under the Creative Control label.
Later that year Rebel Child & Dizzy Dee signed to the Kunta Records label owned by Tony
Fresh in Chi-town (Chitungwiza) instantly releasing their hit single featuring
Triple Pace called "Usandisiye" meaning "Don't leave me" featured on the riddim album
(Kunta Riddim) which had air-play on Power FM
(nation wide radio station) During the same period Rebel Child & Dizzy Dee teamed up again
and released "Rastaman" which included singles like "Serial Killa" "Rhyming Kings"
which was loved by many because of the diversity shown by the two artists. The two moved
back to their hometowns to work on yet another project with Simba
the main producer who was left at that period of time at Maodzanyemba, this time with sweet
sensational voice "Yvonne" recording "Zvangazvanetsa Sei" meaning
"How Did the problem Arise" Dizzy became a household artist releasing a limited number of
records from his former management, he later refused to sign another
contract due to personal reasons. 2005 Dizzy had at least a live show every fort night, big
or small it was a point where exposure was the bigger lesson. Sharing the
stage with the controversial rapper "Maskiri", Nicholas "Madzibaba" Zachariah, Sniper,
Kuligan & Kalabash, Alexio Kawara & Stereo One's Jacky Bango & Sling Shot
just to name a few. The next two years were "x amount of niceness" as they say in Jamaican
Patois which is a major influence in Dizzy's voice. 2007, coming to Australia
meant leaving behind local Zimbabwean sound clashes and Pasa pasa scene to study Graphic
Design. Meeting Dan Murphy, Melbourne based producer/artist and P.Bashir
was a blessing in disguise, since they were only into Hip hop beats etc. Never the less that
did not stop them from working together. Later on the same year Dan Murphy
recorded Dizzy Dee's unreleased and untitled album under the Smooth Operator label based in
Sydney. Dr. Fil a popular MC in Melbourne's reggae scene introduced Dizzy Dee
to Melbourne's most successful reggae sound system "Chant Down Sound" and in no time at all
Jesse I & Ras Crucial realized the talent in Dizzy and worked with him as
resident/official "Chant Down Sound" MC. "Dizzy Dee is what Chant Down needs right now" -
Sista Itations, Natty Sistren Sound. Later that year Dizzy performed live as an
opening act for Jah Mason, Junior Reid, Junior Kelly and the Irie Band with Stick Marebo in
Melbourne. Voiced on some riddims from the Melbourne meets Kingston album
by Mista Savona at the St Kilda Festival, currently Dizzy Dee is a vocalist in the roots
reggae band "Mista Savona". Just before the end of the year Dizzy Dee had the
pleasure to perform and freestyle live with Culture Connect, Mantra, a member of Illzilla
and Jornick Joe lick the French Guiana vocalist before leaving for Canada.
